IT - Senior Software Engineer

Tired of working on old, legacy systems? The Senior Software Engineer role will be setting the IT system standard for Green Bay Packaging for years to come. This position will present the right candidate with multiple greenfield design and development opportunities in support of the recently announced $600m paper mill expansion. This role is part of the Application Development Team that is rolling out modern technologies utilizing an Agile development approach featuring the Azure DevOps platform as well as automated deployments.
The Senior Software Engineer architects, designs, develops, tests, implements, supports and maintains application software in support of company business processes. The Senior Software Engineer leads the work of the software developers and develops system requirements, makes recommendations regarding technical approaches, and develops documentation for Application Development standards.   RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with Systems Analysts to understand business requirements and recommend technical solutions
  • Manage and implement requests from end users for changes to business systems and reporting
  • Mentor software developers regarding proper development standards, technical tooling, and SDLC practices
  • Troubleshoot break/fix information systems issues by working with business users, technical staff or vendors to resolve
  • Work with a sense of urgency in solving issues, completing assignments and removing roadblocks
  • Validate results by properly testing code changes
  • Provide training on information systems for business users as required
  • Develop detailed technical documentation for end user support teams
  • Provide technical support for applications relating to raw materials procurement, orders, machine scheduling, production, product testing, finished goods inventory, invoicing, sales reporting and others as developed
  • Stay current with the latest technical trends by participating in educational forums, reading related professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and/or participating in professional organizations
  • Proven experience in architecting, designing, developing, testing, and implementing software application solutions using web frameworks, web services/APIs, and web UIs.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development

    Green Bay Packaging’s ideal candidate would be a proven technical developer with extensive experience working with manufacturing information systems. This role will be directly involved with architecting, designing and developing the new manufacturing system. The ideal candidate will have significant hands on experience working in the Microsoft web development stack including: MVC, Web API, JavaScript. The person who fills this role must be accountable results, energetic, customer service-oriented and able to effectively communicate directly with end users.  The individual must understand business processes, how those processes connect and translate them into IT system solutions.  A strong teamwork mentality is important for this role.
