Ink Technician
Green Bay Packaging Inc is a privately owned, diversified paper and packaging manufacturer. Our Kalamazoo Container Division, which is located in Kalamazoo MI is a modern, fully equipped corrugated manufacturing facility that produces a wide range of innovative corrugated products from ordinary brown boxes to intricate die-cut inner pack to high graphic packaging.
The Ink Technician is responsible for ensuring that inks and adhesives are accurately mixed for use in flexographic/laminated printing presses. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
·         Verify daily ink production needs using appropriate software (Kiwi etc.). ·         Manage ink inventory: add/remove inks from inventory, combine partial kits. ·         Store inks according to standard documented procedure. ·         Ensure ink drums are properly stored and labeled. ·         Work closely with ink vendors to ensure adequate inventory; follow up with any problems. ·         Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of ink dispensers. ·         Responsible for hazardous waste shipments and manifests. ·         Prepare ink draw-downs and ink formulations, use appropriate software to verify quality (e.g., X-rite). ·         Enter jobs into dispensing system. ·         Create and maintain color files. ·         Adjust ink colors as needed to meet customer requirements. ·         Knowledge of color-matching. ·         Maintain accurate inventory and reconcile system in ink storage area. ·         Generate reports as requested. ·         Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and others to ensure accuracy and quality of ink orders. ·         Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition; follow all safety rules. ·         Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
·         Associate’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent and qualified experience will be considered. ·         Strong verbal and written communication skills. ·         Ability to see color and distinguish colors precisely.
