Environmental Health & Safety Assistant

Summary Performs environmental, safety and health activities in industrial plant to evaluate and control environmental hazards by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintains and calibrates instruments. Coordinates distribution of respirators, including coordinating respirator fit tests. Manages annual hearing tests for employees. Trains forklift operators to qualify for licensing. Trains employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations. Oversees field activities and monitors for health and safety violations. Enforces use of safety equipment. Monitors decontamination of personnel leaving hazardous work zones. Issues and monitors hot work permits, confined space entries, and lockout/tag out permits. Develops and monitors emergency action plans. Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports. Identifies potential causes for accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness. Assists management to prepare safety and health budget. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
One year providing administrative support in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Knowledge of the environment, health and safety responsibilities. Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and reporting requirements. OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 preferred Past experience as a team lead in a safety role preferred. Ability to communicate safety, health and environmental issues with all levels of team. Flexibility with scheduling to meet our demands for three shifts.
This is a non-exempt role. Hourly Rate $16 - $20 per hour depending on experience. We know how important affordable and comprehensive benefits are to your health and well-being.
