Job description
JOB PURPOSE: Perform activities associated with preparing dies for production and storing them in an organized fashion for future use. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain records of tooling rework and historical data and assist in solving processing problems.
  • Prepare tooling to be press ready and at the press in accordance with daily schedule
  • Remove tooling after run, store tooling, and file location in computer
  • Complete and submit tooling repair forms
  • Package tooling to be sent out for repair
  • Receive incoming new and repaired tooling
  • Store and identify location of returned and new tooling
  • Inventory replacement tooling and matrix dies for cutting presses
  • Work with customer service to purge obsolete and aged tooling
  • Perform minor repairs to dies and print plates
  • Maintain accurate computerized and paper copies location records for all tooling.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Great Lakes Packaging’s quality policy to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures, including practicing safe work habits.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.
  • Train, assist, and rotate with team members at work center.
  • Cross-train on other equipment or other areas of the plant.
  • Function as an effective team member while supporting the efforts and concepts of other departments.

  • Strong mechanical skills and ability to use die tools and hand tools
  • Ability to read and understand prints and read specs
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to operate fork lift and cherry picker
  • Strong mathematical skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
