Division description
The Kalamazoo Division is a full service, BRCGS certified corrugated facility with an ISTA test lab on site. We manufacture a wide variety of corrugated products from point of purchase graphic displays, to any size corrugated shipping container.
Job description
POSITION IMPACT AND VALUE ADD:

As the Assistant Controller, you will serve as a partner to the leadership team and provide-high level support to the Division’s Controller in management of the division’s accounting and financial activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to produce financial summary statements, forecast the division’s financial health, ensure the accuracy of the division’s financial records. This is a highly visible position and key member of the division’s accounting team. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
  • Create financial statements for clients and the leadership team
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
  • Assist with billing and tax documentation preparation
  • Conduct property tax preparation
  • Capitalize assets
  • Perform property/asset ledger maintenance
  • Serve as a mentor and lead to the accounting team including A/R, A/P, purchasing, IT and payroll
  • Provide ongoing coaching to accounting team with goal of creating a collaborative team
  • Ensure all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
  • Collaborate in strategic planning, financial forecasting, and business development
  • Perform productivity analyses
  • Serve as back up for all areas in the accounting department
  • Assist in compiling and reconciling information for other departments
  • Participate in inventory control
Qualifications
IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • B.S in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience, ideally obtained in progressively more responsible roles within Finance or Accounting
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting and payroll systems
  • Thorough, in depth knowledge of accounting standards to include standard cost accounting, customer invoicing, AR/AP management, account reconciliations, payroll, sales tax remittances, accrual account maintenance, balance sheet statements and financial statement preparation
  • Strong financial analysis capabilities
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
