Arkansas Kraft Granted Diamond Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership

December 6, 2011

Arkansas Kraft Division was awarded the 2011 Diamond Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership from the Arkansas Environmental Federation (AEF). Arkansas Kraft was honored at the 44th Annual Convention and Trade Show on November 4, 2011.

The Arkansas Kraft Mill was presented the Diamond Award for its excellence in executing installation of a sustainable, closed-loop recycling project to increase paper fiber recovery yield. Started in 2010, the project diverts fiber waste from the landfill and is used to create a new product. Using state of-the-art equipment through a partnership with Fiber Products LLC., and Marck Recycling, more than 7,000 tons annually of fiber reject have been diverted from the landfill, cleaned, and sold. The fiber recycling savings equals the electricity usage of 28 homes each year.

The Diamond Award recipient is chosen every fall, determined by an independent panel of judges appointed by the AEF Board of Directors.

According to the AEF, the award recognizes a company demonstrating initiative and innovative leadership in environmental affairs.
