GREEN BAY – In a recent interview with Jeff Bollier of the Green Bay Press Gazette, Green Bay Packaging CEO Will Kress described the company’s plans to increase production with a brand new, state-of-the-art, paper mill in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The new mill is set to replace the original mill that was constructed in the 1940s.
Kress highlights the necessity for the new mill by saying “We need the paper… we’ve gotta have production. We’re so busy we’ve sold all the inventory we had built up. We can’t even take on new customers”.
The new paper mill, which has cost over $500 million to build, is the largest single development project in the history of Brown County.
Bollier goes on in his interview to learn more about the bigger picture of Green Bay Packaging’s expansion. This included not only the expansion project in Green Bay, but also other expansion projects in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Fort Worth, Texas.
Kress notes part of the reason for building in Green Bay is the fact that the company did not want to leave its current employees without work, “We have great employees at the mill. If they were out of work, that’d bother me and the family … We’ve been lucky with the workforce here. They’re great, loyal employees”.
Bollier also highlights the ins and outs of the project, the legacy of Green Bay Packaging, and the partnerships with Miron Construction and Voith on the mill project.
