Green Bay Packaging Inc. Becomes Green Professional

September 1, 2010

Green Bay Packaging Inc. Shipping Container Division was recently recognized as a Green Professional from the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council as part of the Green Masters Program.

With the support of the Wisconsin School of Business and the Wisconsin DNR’s Green Tier Program, the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council launched the new Green Masters Program as a way to recognize Wisconsin businesses and institutions that are committed to sustainability. The program also provides informed resources between businesses and sustainability initiatives, enabling better decisions that lead to reduced environmental impact, cost reductions and social benefits.

Becoming A Green Master

To become part of the Green Masters Program, GBP completed a points-based questionnaire about its sustainability efforts and was given a score. Companies that rank below 100 points on the questionnaire are called Green Apprentices. Green Professionals, such as GBP, rank above 100 points, and are nominated to become a Green Master. Each December, at the WI Sustainable Business Council annual meeting, the top 20 percent of companies will be identified, and will be recognized as a Green Masters company for one year.

As a pilot company, GBP will serve as a leader and example in sustainability, assisting the Green Master Program to evolve into a valuable tool for other companies and their sustainability efforts.

“Green Bay Packaging is pleased to be recognized as a Green Professional by the WI Sustainable Business Council,” said Bryan Hollenbach, Vice President/Area General Manager of the Green Bay Shipping Container Division. “GBP’s legacy is one of commitment to leading environmental practices and our focus on sustainability is part of our heritage. We appreciate being recognized as a green professional and will continue to have business practices that support sustainability.”
