Green Bay Packaging Inc. Gives Trees for Arbor Day

Green Bay Packaging Inc. (GBP) is giving away two tree seedlings to each of its Green Bay area employees April 30, in honor of Arbor Day.

In the spirit of sustainable forestry stewardship, fi ve area GBP plants will give a total of 2,000 tree seedlings to more than 950 of its employees. Each employee will receive a three-year-old white spruce and a three-year-old red pine.

The Green Bay Shipping Container Division is co-sponsoring the event.

“We wanted to co-sponsor this event as a thank you to our employees and another example of our commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Bryan Hollenbach, Vice President/Area General Manager of the Green Bay Shipping Container Division.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles. Over the course its life, a single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide.
