Green Bay Packaging Inc. to Acquire MidCon Holdings, LLC

GREEN BAY, WI – October 31, 2014 – Green Bay Packaging Inc. announced the acquisition of Great Lakes Packaging Corporation and Midland Container Corporation from MidCon Holdings, LLC, an Arbor Investment Company.  The acquisition is effective October 31, 2014 and terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Green Bay Packaging Awarded Fourth Consecutive Green Master Designation

Green Bay, Wis. – Green Bay Packaging Wisconsin operations were recognized as a Green Master for the
fourth consecutive year at the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council Annual Conference Dec. 13, 2013. GBP, specifically its Wisconsin divisions, is one of a select group of companies to earn the Green Master designation, the highest tier in the Green Masters Program, established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. As a Green Master, GBP performed actions in nine sustainability areas, including energy, water, waste and social actions,
and scored in the top twenty percent of all participating companies. The conference, held this year at Lands’ End headquarters in Dodgeville, Wis., is the only conference in Wisconsin designed specifically for direct business-to-business sharing of sustainability achievements. The conference saw a record attendance, with 345 attendees and 167 companies participating in the program.

Kalamazoo Division Achieves British Retail Consortium Global Standards Certification

Green Bay, Wis. – Green Bay Packaging’s Kalamazoo Container Division recently achieved the British Retail Consortium (BRCGS) Global Standards certification, a leading global quality and food safety certification program.

Upon completion of the rigorous auditing process, the Kalamazoo Division received an “A” grade certification for Packaging, with the scope of the certification including the manufacture of printed and non-printed corrugated containers, display cases and sheets.

ProGreen® Featured in Global Green USA Video on Recyclable Box Testing

ProGreen®, Green Bay Packaging’s innovative wax-alternative coating process, was recently featured in a video released by Global Green USA. The video details the result of their 2012 pilots to test recyclable produce boxes.

Global Green USA teamed up with the Coalition for Resource Recovery (CoRR) to test wax-alternatives such as ProGreen®. The wax-alternative coated boxes were tested with a variety of wet cooling processes, such as vacuum cooling, hydro-vac, and hydro-cooling processes.

Arkansas Kraft Mill Featured in Paper360 November/December Issue

The Green Bay Packaging Arkansas Kraft Mill was featured in the Paper360 magazine’s November/December 2012 issue, in an article titled “Proud to be a Papermaker: Achieving Zero Landfill of Fiber.”

The article highlights the Mill’s closed-loop recycling project using state-of-the-art equipment and an innovative process which helped them become one of the first mills to achieve zero-landfill of fiber collected from the waste treatment system.
